Advocacy Priority: Inclusion, Diversity, Equity & Access (IDEA)

Our Work So Far

One of our Association's core values (Accessibility) is providing equitable services, events, and information that are inclusive of all and reflect the diversity of our community. This manifests as a through-line in everything ARSL does, from the structure of our member benefits to the development of our conferences and events. The ARSL Anti-Racism Statement, which is posted on our homepage, is perhaps the most visible representation of our commitment to embedding the principles of IDEA in everything we do as an association, and to supporting our members in applying similar philosophies in their professional practice.

How We Support YOU!

ARSL provides opportunities for professional development around the principles of IDEA through our monthly ARSL TRAIN workshop series, and has intentionally included IDEA content at each of the last three Annual Conferences. Education is the first step toward action, and the more deeply out members understand the need for and application of IDEA principles, the more effectively they can advocate for in to their local stakeholders.
